Old Hwy Dog Boarding is a home away from home for your four-legged friend. Whether they’re coming for a day, night or extended stay, we promise they’ll have the best care possible. We strongly encourage you to stop out with your dogs and visit. We would love to get to know them before their stay.

Treating your pets like members of our family
We moved to Manchester, IA from the south suburbs of Chicago in 2007 due to a job opportunity. Best decision we ever made. We can think of no better place to raise our family. Our property is almost two and a half acres located just east of Manchester on "Old Hwy 20". We decided to start Old Highway Dog Boarding L.L.C. in 2018 as a local option for home based boarding in a family atmosphere. If you are like us, the decision to leave our four-legged family members for any length of time is not taken lightly. We want you to know that we will treat your dog the same way we want ours treated. We currently have two dogs. Zoey is a purebred Rhodesian Ridgeback and Ruby is a Boxer/Coonhound mix we adopted from Cedar Valley Humane Society. We also have "barn cats", chickens, turkeys and Guinea fowl. Not quite Noah's Ark, but close.
Announcements
This was an exceedingly difficult decision for us to make, but due to Covid-19 and other rising costs, we regrettably have to raise our prices effective July 1st, 2021. Any reservations made prior to June 1st will be at the current lower rate. The new rates will be:
$25 plus tax per calendar day for 1 dog
$40 plus tax per calendar day for 2 dogs sharing same kennel
Please remember that we charge per calendar day, NOT by the night like a hotel. Example, if you drop off on Friday at 3pm and pick up on Saturday at 2 pm this counts as two days. This allows us to be extremely flexible with drop off and pick-up times. As always, please ask if you need more clarification. We can always give you the total beforehand. We previously posted about trying to go paperless. We are transitioning to a system where we will email or text you your invoice prior to pick up. We will continue to offer a 7% cash discount (essentially equal to sales tax).

Treating your pets like members of our family
Whether it is a weekend get-away or a vacation, you can rest assured that your four-legged family member will be in good hands. We don't believe in locking any animal in a cage for 23 1/2 hours a day. We will make sure that your dog gets to run, play, and exercise at least 3-4 times a day. At your discretion, we will allow your dog to socialize with our dogs or other guests
BOARDING
Your pet’s happiness and safety are our highest priorities. During this service, we learn what they like and dislike and always treat them with kindness and patience. And we never charge extra for snuggles - it’s included. We have almost an acre and a half fenced for exercise and play. Our building is clean, fully insulated, climate controlled (heat and A/C), and secure (24hr/day video surveillance). We are state licensed as a Commercial Kennel. License information available upon request or online at: https://iowaagriculture.gov/animal-industry-bureau/animal-welfare. We do require proof of vaccinations (minimum of Distemper, Rabies, Parvo (as of January 8th 2020) and Bordetella/kennel cough). We offer several different size of powder coated steel kennels. All kennels will be cleaned daily and sanitized after every stay. We will provide bowls that will be sanitized daily, toys, and fresh filtered water. You must provide food and any extra blankets or bedding. Our "Boarding Agreement" and "Pet Profile" must be filled out for each pet prior to their stay. We have both forms available to pick up if you visit us ahead of time, and can also send them to you via e-mail or old fashioned "snail mail" ahead of time to expedite the check in process. We live on site and are usually around 24/7, the following hours apply for drop off/pick up. We know lives are busy and other arrangements may be available with prior notification. We are now requiring an appointment during the posted business hours
